Cattaraugus 250Q Quartermaster Knife

The history of this solid knife is a great story in and of itself.  Durning WWII the US Army Quartermaster Corp was handling a lot of shipping to say the least.  The average knife user of that day was very much like the knife users of today.  They always seen to want to use a knife for the very things it was not designed to do.  Prying open crates, knocking open metal clasps, and hammering were normal uses the soldiers put their knives to.  Of course breaking them was also a very normal result.  So the call went out for a knife that would stand up to the abuse they were going to be put through.  Cattaraugus and Case Cutlery filled the order with this great old piece.  Extra thick stock was used with full tang construction.  A heavy stacked leather handle and the Army had a knife that was going to be used the wrong way.  Sure Cattaraugus cutlerly experts knew that no knife is supposed to be used that way but there was a war on and when the Army asked for something back then they got it, and lots of it.   This one has seen some use but not the abuse one might expect.  Some mild pitting and tarnish on the blade and a dent on the hilt guard show on this nice example.  The leather handle is solid and tight and it comes with the original leather sheath.  Own a piece of history or put it to use.  Either way you will not be disappointed with this one.  Only $39.95.
